A resident of Trout Run RR 1, Young attended Lock Haven State College, W.A.C.C. and The Pennsylvania State University.
One of his nominators described him as "one of the most dedicated, caring, knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers in his field, and a mentor of the best caliber."
Other comments included: "He teaches with a passion" and "He makes learning interesting, planting the desire to learn in his students."
Distinguished Teaching Awards, presented at the College since 1982, provide faculty with monetary awards and the opportunity to work on special College projects. Nominations are received from students and other individuals with direct knowledge of a nominee's work and dedication. A representative selection committee, which includes faculty, students, administrators and a member of the Corporate Advisory Board and the College Board of Directors, selects recipients from those nominations. Each award winner exemplifies the College's dedication to excellence in instruction.
