Pennsylvania College of Technology's New Choices/New Options program, centered at the Penn College North Campus near Wellsboro, will be going on the road in March. A six-week workshop will be held at the Church of Christ, East Union Street and North Minniqua Avenue, in Canton from April 12 through May 20.
Anyone wanting to find out more about the program is invited to attend one of two informational meetings being held at the Clothing Center/Fellowship Hall of the Church of Christ on Thursday, March 11. The first will be an "Information Brunch" at 10:30 a.m.; the second will be an "Information Dessert" at 1:30 p.m. Both meetings will cover the same information.
New Choices/New Options provides career-development services for single parents, homemakers and teen parents, as well as men and women of all ages who would like to explore nontraditional careers. Workshops consist of "interest and skill inventories" to help participants make career decisions. Additionally, individuals will develop good job-search skills including learning how to create resumes and cover letters, proper applications and interviews.
Participants will have opportunities to learn about multiple occupations, talk with employers, and learn to research topics of personal interest. Special skills workshops will be given in math review, communication skills and computer skills.
Child care will be available at the church during both the information sessions and the workshops.
To register for this workshop or to find out more about it, interested individuals may attend one of the information sessions or contact Linda Williams at Penn College's North Campus, (570) 724-7703, ext. 3740, or contact David Morris at the Church of Christ in Canton at (570) 673-5796.
