Dr. Davie Jane Gilmour, president of Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently met with key officials at the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Labor and the White House, capping a four-day agenda in Washington, D.C.
The activities were part of an in-depth briefing designed to update educational leaders on national issues and to identify contacts and resources in Washington that could help link Penn College to important program initiatives and funding.
Dr. Gilmour and 28 other college presidents were in the nation's capital as part of The National Leadership Academy: The DC Experience, a forum sponsored for top administrators by the American Association of Community Colleges.
In addition to sessions with federal departmental staff, Dr. Gilmour discussed current news coverage with a national media panel including "The Chronicle of Higher Education," "U.S. News & World Report" and "Kiplinger's Personal Business Magazine."
She was briefed by key Capitol Hill staff and attended presentations by members of Congress, including John Peterson (R-Pa.), David Price (D-N.C.), and Ann Northup (R-Ky.).
In another recent outing, Dr. Gilmour was selected to attend an intensive, weeklong workshop at Harvard University the Harvard Seminar for New Presidents.
