Area manufacturers, business and industry are invited to see the latest in welding technologies in action at Pennsylvania College of Technology on Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 2-3.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, ESAB Welding & Cutting Products, a company based in Florence, South Carolina, will provide free, on-site demonstrations of some of the latest technologies available on the market today. As part of its "Tour 2000" program, the company's mobile trailer will be parked behind the College's Metal Trades Center, located on the main campus in Williamsport. Penn College's School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies and welding faculty are sponsoring the event.
Paul Schriner, associate professor of welding at Penn College, says the displays will be of interest to those in the welding profession as well as the auto body, heavy equipment, and other fields. Area manufacturers are being invited to attend.
The exhibition will include technologies for Mig and Tig welding as well as oxy-fuel and plasma-cutting. Live equipment demonstrations begin on the hour starting at 8 a.m. through 4 p.m. Product specialists will be on hand to answer questions.
Other specialties to be addressed at specific times include torches and regulators at 9 to 10 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m.; maintenance welding, 9 to 10 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.; core wire production, 10 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 3 p.m.; plasma cutting, 10 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 2 p.m.; metal spray, 11 a.m. to noon and 3 to 4 p.m.
In conjunction with the "Tour 2000" visit, the Northcentral Chapter of the American Welding Society will be conducting its annual dinner meeting the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 2, in Le Jeune Chef restaurant on the Penn College campus.
