The Community Arts Center is pleased to announce it is the recipient of $20,000 from C&N, a leading community-oriented financial services institution, through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program. The contribution will be used to support the arts center's Educational Series programming within the approved Educational Improvement Tax Credit Programs.

“We are excited to support the Community Arts Center and their initiatives that provide local educational programming, especially in encouraging youth to learn about and experience the arts and theater. We are fortunate to have this educational resource in our community,” said Thomas L. Rudy Jr., executive vice president/region president at C&N.

The CAC is an approved Educational Improvement Organization by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. EITC funds allow approved organizations to invest in projects that improve access to high-quality education programs. Annually since 2007, the CAC has been able to provide thousands of students with access to exceptional arts programming that enhances the classroom curriculum of nine school districts across a multi-county geographic reach in northcentral Pennsylvania.

Jim Dougherty, executive director of the CAC, said, “We are very grateful for the EITC funding support that we receive, which allows us to continue supporting and developing the arts in our community. C&N’s generosity helps us to create unique experiences for children and youth throughout Lycoming and neighboring counties, and allows those children the opportunity for experiences that they might not otherwise have access to.”

Funding for the educational programming is derived from various sources, including EITC Funds, donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.

“This EITC funding from C&N is truly making a difference, and I want to thank them for recognizing how the arts can inspire our youth. In addition to fostering a love of the arts and exposure to theater, the Educational Series programming also supports and enhances local district curriculums by providing instructors with supporting resources and lesson plans that encourage artifact building by their students,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer in charge of development for the CAC.

C&N has participated in the EITC program for over a decade and has donated more than $900,000 to local educational organizations this year alone.
