Penn College board director emeritus dies

Word has been received of the June 6 death of John J. Cahir, a director emeritus of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Board of Directors. Cahir served on the board from 1993-2016, retiring as vice chair.

Cahir worked at Penn State from 1965-2001, first as a meteorology faculty member and subsequently serving in a variety of administrative roles. He retired from Penn State as vice provost and dean for undergraduate education.

According to his obituary, a funeral mass will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 15, at Our Lady of Victory Church in State College. A visitation is set for 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Koch Funeral Home, State College.
