In team competition, Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling and basketball squads went a combined 0-7 last week, but three wrestlers went unbeaten in their three matches and each of them posted wins over regionally ranked opponents during the John Reese Duals at Wilkes University on Sunday.

WRESTLING
Kaden Ware, of Brooklyn, Connecticut, sixth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Mideast Regional rankings, had two wins by decision — one over Wilkes’ Michael Richardson, who is ranked fifth in the Southeast Region — and one win by major decision at 133 pounds.

Noah Hunt, of Muncy, fourth in the Mideast, recorded a technical fall, a major decision over Jack Bauer, of Wilkes, ranked seventh in the Southeast that avenged a loss to Bauer a year ago, and added a win by decision at 141.

Travis Green, of Manchester, Maryland, eighth in the Mideast at 165, came through with two pins and produced the biggest win of the day with a decision over Konrad Parker, of Ithaca, who is ranked third in Mideast. Earlier this season, Parker major decisioned Green at the Ithaca Invitational in November.

In team competition, Penn College lost to SUNY Oneonta, 24-21; Wilkes, 35-16; and Ithaca, 30-19.

In the Jan. 26 rankings of the National Coaches Wrestling Association, four Wildcats were among the top eight in their respective weights in the Mideast Region.

Hunt dropped from third to fourth at 141; Ware moved up to sixth from seventh at 133; TJ Martin, of Honesdale (149), remained seventh, and Green returned to eighth at 165, a spot he last held in the Dec. 27 ranking. Meanwhile, Nicholai Brotzman, of Marietta (285), dropped out after being eighth in the Jan. 12 ranking.

Also, Hunt was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) wrestler of the week, the organization announced on Monday. Hunt went 3-0 with three falls at the Dr. Si Ostrach Duals on Jan. 20.
