During the week leading up to Christmas Day, only wrestlers saw action for Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Closing out the 2023 portion of the college’s athletics schedule, the men’s basketball team will be in action Friday and Saturday at Juniata College’s Doc Greene Tournament and the women’s basketball team will be at Keystone College on Saturday.

WRESTLING
On Friday at the 90th Wilkes University Open, 149-pounder TJ Martin, of Honesdale, was the lone Wildcat place winner – finishing sixth – and became just the second Wildcat in program history to medal at the “Rose Bowl of College Wrestling.”

Martin put together an impressive run in the consolation bracket by closing in on deficits against Division I opponents from Binghamton and Lock Haven to survive and advance. Martin, who also downed a Division I foe from Rutgers, went 5-1 with four pins, including three in the first period.

Also for Penn College, Kaden Ware, of Brooklyn, Connecticut (133), went 3-2 with a win over a D-I foe from Bloomsburg; Travis Green, of  Manchester, Maryland (165), went 3-2 with wins over D-I opponents from Rutgers and Bloomsburg; Nicholai Brotzman, of Marietta (285), went 3-2 with a win by pin over a wrestler from D-I Army; and CJ Trimber, of Moon Township (133), won two bouts with a highlight win over a D-II wrestler from Pitt-Johnstown.
