The Community Arts Center has received $5,000 from PPL Electric Utilities through the Pennsylvania Education Improvement Tax Credit program. The contribution was used to support the Dec. 2-3 performances of "The Nutcracker" ballet, the timeless classic presented in collaboration with Lycoming College, Saint John’s School of the Arts and the Williamsport Youth Choir.

“PPL Electric Utilities is pleased to support the Penn College Community Arts Center's 'Nutcracker' performance," said Jonah Howe, PPL Electric Utilities regional affairs director. "The educational program uplifts the community and introduces young adults to the many activities available to them in the arts.”

The Community Arts Center is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development as an Educational Improvement Organization. EITC funds allow approved organizations to invest in projects that improve access to high-quality education programs.

Jim Dougherty, executive director of the CAC, said: “The financial support that we receive from PPL Electric Utilities is critical in facilitating community-oriented programming like our annual production of 'The Nutcracker.' We’re very grateful for their generosity, which allows us to continue to create unique experiences for our audience.”

Funding for the educational programs is derived from various sources, including EITC funds, donations, corporate sponsorships and grants.

”For years, the Community Arts Center has offered student-centered shows through several EITC-approved programs, including 'The Nutcracker,' the Educational Series and the Student Summer Stock, thanks in large part to the vital support of the business community,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, college relations officer in charge of development for the CAC. “We appreciate the generous assistance we receive from PPL Electric Utilities.”
