Pennsylvania College of Technology’s women’s soccer team continued its great start over the past week.

WOMEN’S SOCCER
Kaelynn Sheetz, of Elizabethtown, scored four times and Sara Darlington, of West Chester, tallied twice in a 6-2 home United East win over Penn State Abington on Tuesday. The Wildcats led in shots on goal, 14-5, and goalie Nicole Lichtinger, of Erie, made three saves. Sheetz’ four goals and one assist gave her an NCAA-era program record 100 career points.

In home UE play on Saturday, once-beaten Penn College and St. Mary’s (Md.) fought to a scoreless tie. St. Mary’s led in shots on goal, 9-7, and Lichtinger was perfect in stops at the goal for the fourth time this season and saw her goals against average improve to 0.82. The team’s seventh tie is the most ever in a single season having earlier surpassed the previous high of five in 2017.

Also, freshman Makayla Bucks, of Lebanon, was named United East Volt Division Defender of the Week for Oct. 1-7 as she helped Penn College to 1-0-1 week with a stellar defense that allowed the Wildcats to surrender just two goals. The freshman marked the opponents’ top scorers and held them scoreless.
