As job-seekers traveled to and from the Field House for the second day of the Career Fair on Tuesday, two construction students were diligently working behind the building on a new feature for the Athletics Department.

Jacob C. Huston, a building construction technology student from Johnstown; and Corbin R. Moore, of Manheim, enrolled in residential construction technology & management, laid several courses of block – the start of a 20-foot-by-10-foot wall that will be used by the lacrosse team and others.

The wall, under consideration for a while, will give players a space to practice on their own to increase their 'stick skills,' explained Jordan Williams, head coach for Wildcat men's lacrosse. It will provide ample space for up to eight people per side, and other sports teams can use the wall if they see value in it.

The work is being done entirely in-house, with a mix of construction students and student-athletes helping out in whatever capacity they can. Huston and Moore (a midfielder on the Wildcat lacrosse team), for instance, are classmates in Scott A. Bierly's Masonry Principles course and in Concrete Construction with instructor Franklin H. Reber Jr.

The trench was dug by Brooke M. Barton, a first-shift horticulturist, and a number of General Services employees stopped by the worksite Tuesday to make sure the students had the supplies and equipment they need for the job.
