Craig A. Miller, professor of history/political science and department head for social sciences and humanities at Pennsylvania College of Technology, moderated a recent forum for Lycoming County commissioner and Common Pleas Court judge candidates.

Held at the Roads to Freedom Center for Independent Living, the candidates’ forum aimed to give the disability community a platform to address needs in the county. The event was co-sponsored by Penn College and the League of Women Voters of Lycoming County. The candidates in attendance will be on the November General Election ballot.

“Community forums like this are invaluable to the community as they provide a means to engage directly with candidates for local office,” Miller said. “In particular, this forum focused on issues that impact a specific segment of the community, individuals with disabilities, whose voices are often marginalized in political debate. I was honored to be a part of it.”

A faculty member at Penn College since 2011, Miller teaches world history, constitutional history, Native American history and international relations courses. He serves as chief reader for the World History: Modern Advanced Placement exam.

Miller holds a doctoral degree in American Indian history, history of the Atlantic world, constitutional and legal history from the University of Buffalo, where he also earned a master’s in colonial history. He earned his bachelor’s degree in history from SUNY Geneseo.
