    As if Welcome Week isn't epic enough, greeting new and returning students as they prepare to leave their mark on the invitingly blank canvas of a fresh semester.

    Thursday night's activities alone brought a soaking rain, a swag toss to the screaming (and standing-room-only) mass of Wildcat fans who poured into UPMC Field, remarks from President Michael J. Reed – whose birthday prompted a crowdsourced serenade – and, accenting the beauty of a campus in full flower, a rainbow!
