American Culinary Federation reaccredits Penn College majors

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s hospitality majors have gained American Culinary Federation reaccreditation through 2029.
The college was given a seven-year grant of accreditation – the longest term conferred to an institution – by the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Accrediting Commission.
The college offers an associate degree in culinary arts technology, a certificate in culinary applications, an associate degree in baking & pastry arts, and a certificate in professional baking.
The associate degrees were granted Exemplary Programs status. Exemplary Programs symbolize the highest educational standards recognized by the commission. The award is presented to programs that have proven full compliance with all of the commission’s accreditation requirements in the last visit team report, along with excellent management of the program.
As newly accredited majors, the certificates are not yet eligible for the Exemplary Programs award.
“Penn College maintains exceptional facilities with experienced and dedicated faculty to ensure that students receive the best educational experiences, both inside and outside of the classroom,” said Sue A. Kelley, dean of business, arts and sciences. “The acknowledgement of Exemplary Programs status recognizes the expertise of our faculty and staff and highlights the solid foundation that students receive through our hospitality programs. Our graduates are skilled and ready for industry.”
The American Culinary Federation has long represented cooks, bakers and culinary professionals in the United States. Recognizing that the future of the industry would be determined by the competence of the individuals entering the field, the American Culinary Federation Education Foundation Inc. established the ACFEF Accrediting Commission.
ACFEF accreditation is voluntary. It requires that curriculum, faculty, resources, support staff and organizational structure substantially meet quality standards. The standards assure graduates that the curriculum has been guided by the ACF.
In addition, graduates of ACFEF-accredited postsecondary culinary programs are eligible to receive a Certified Culinarian or Certified Pastry Culinarian credential without paying any fees or taking any separate exams.
ACFEF accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
