Two of the three finalists for "Intern of the Year" at this month's seventh annual Young Professionals Awards ceremony at Lackawanna County's PNC Field – including the ultimate winner – are Pennsylvania College of Technology students.
Chosen for the honor was Scott Stout, of Nanticoke, an associate engineer at The AZEK Co., a Chicago-based business with locations in Scranton. He will graduate in December with a bachelor's degree in plastics & polymer engineering technology.
"Through this internship, Scott was able to put his knowledge and skills to work and make significant contributions to the company," said Adam C. Barilla, co-department head and an instructor in plastics technology. "Also, as a result, he was offered (and accepted) a full-time position at AZEK."
Joining Stout on what the (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader characterized as "such an impressive list of nominees" was Frank T. Kocsis III, of Dickson City, a graphic design student and one of the college's student photographers in Public Relations & Marketing. He was a web and design intern at Coal Creative in Wilkes-Barre, the evening's presenting sponsor.
Rounding out the roster was Jillian Mirro, a graduate of Clarks Summit University and a communications intern at Scranton's Keystone Mission.
