Opportunities take root during outreach event

Students' busy hands pot succulents, a low-maintenance takeaway from a highly rewarding exchange.A student gets the one-on-one lowdown from Sophia G. Wiest, of Butler, pursuing simultaneous degrees in entrepreneurial innovation and horticulture.Available positions include Presidential Student Ambassadors, who – among other responsibilities – represent Penn College at Open House and other public-facing events.Alongside a "Wanted" poster for College Relations Student Assistants, a participant "dishes the dirt" with Alana L. Lapenta, an applied management student (and baking and pastry arts alumna) from Camp Hill.A sticker bearing a QR code was affixed to each pot, leading to additional information on leadership possibilities.Students planted succulents – and their potential legacy as campus pacesetters – at an informative and interactive event in the Bush Campus Center lobby on Thursday. During "This Doesn't Succulent," curious attendees went to stations that described their personality and planted succulents while talking to students about leadership opportunities on campus. The Resident Assistant stopover was so popular that it ran out of plants halfway through the two-hour event, but was luckily able to grab more from other tables!
