Links transcend virtual hurdle to warmly connect with incoming students

The latest crew of Connections Links, Pennsylvania College of Technology's new-student orientation leaders, are on campus this summer and engaging incoming students virtually.
Connections sessions, designed to guide Penn College students and their families, offer information on academic expectations, campus involvement opportunities and an array of other essential elements for collegiate success. Programming continues to be online in light of the COVID-19 pandemic; however, activities remain inviting and enlightening.
“Although this year has presented a lot of challenges to the traditional student orientation experience, the Links are still focused on providing an exciting Connections experience,” said Meghan R. Delsite Coleman, assistant director of student engagement. “They’ve been working hard to create a welcoming and informative environment by developing a social media outreach plan – which includes Q&A sessions and TikTok content – sending postcards to incoming students, and planning exciting Welcome Weekend programs.”
The seven current Connections Links are: Emilee J. Dotts, Coalport, a human services & restorative justice student; Caila N. Flanagan, Williamsport, business management: management concentration; Michael E. Highland II, Slatington, electronics and computer engineering technology; Kailan K. Marshall, Pottsville, human services & restorative justice; Charles E. Mierwald, Lock Haven, human services & restorative justice; Kellor A. Schooley, Turbotville, network administration and engineering technology; and Sophia G. Wiest, Butler, entrepreneurial innovation.
