"Japan Juxtaposed: Traditional Textiles/Modern Images," the first exhibit of the 2008-09 academic year, opened Tuesday in The Gallery at Penn College (Madigan Library, third floor). The exhibit, which fittingly began with a sushi-and-sake reception, features textiles from the personal collection of Joseph E. LeBlanc, instructor of physics, and photographs of modern-day Tokyo by Kirk Pedersen, an urban landscape artist on the faculty of California's Mt. San Antonio College. The exhibit is open to the public and runs through Aug. 6. Hours are 1-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday and Friday.
