Forestry Students Help Game Commission Protect Pheasant Chicks

Thomas W. Barefoot, a forest technology student from Wilmington, Del., assists the Game Commission Katie S. McCaslin, of Lock Haven, was among the forest technology majors to help put protective netting into place Students in Donald Nibert's Wildlife Management class visited the Loyalsock Game Farm during their three-hour lab Thursday to assist the Pennsylvania Game Commission in erecting nylon netting over holding pens for newly hatched pheasants. The netting is applied to protect the 4-week-old chicks from avian predators. Penn College forestry students also received a tour of the hatching facilities and brooding buildings.
