Prospective students, their families and friends can learn more about Pennsylvania College of Technology, a special-mission affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University, during Fall Visitation Day activities being offered Sunday, Oct. 26.
The event, which will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offers an excellent opportunity for first-time visitors to learn more about the College's academic programs and to tour campus facilities.
For those arriving before 10 a.m., "Early Bird" Sessions will be offered beginning at 9 a.m. For students planning to enroll in Fall 2004, an information session on admissions, financial aid and academics will be offered at 9 a.m. in the Field House. For those who are undecided about career choices, the Counseling and Career Services office will offer a "Choosing a Major" session at 9 a.m. at Penn's Inn in the Bush Campus Center. In addition, Residence Life staff will present a student-housing session at 9 a.m. in the presentation room on the first floor of the Student and Administrative Services Center.
For those interested in enrolling in Fall 2004, subsequent information sessions will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. in the Field House. Those planning to enroll in 2005 or later may attend subsequent information sessions beginning at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Penn's Inn.
Counseling and Career Services will offer its "Choosing a Major" session again at 1:30 p.m. in Penn's Inn. Sessions providing information for both on- and off-campus housing will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., noon and 1 p.m. in the Student and Administrative Services Center's presentation room.
Visitors also may take a sample placement test to help them prepare for testing required for admission; tour the campus to view the College's state-of-the-art facilities and equipment; meet with faculty to learn more about the College's academic majors, which represent more than 100 different career fields; interact with current students; and learn more about student organizations and campus life at Penn College.
Student Ambassadors will lead walking tours of the main campus, and the College's eight academic schools Business and Computer Technologies, Construction and Design Technologies, Health Sciences, Hospitality, Industrial and Engineering Technologies, Integrated Studies, Natural Resources Management, and Transportation Technology will be open for tours, demonstrations and activities.
Many student organizations also will offer displays around campus and operate food fund-raisers.
Food will be available at various College dining facilities throughout the day, including the Bistro, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the CoffeeHouse, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Nature's Cove (at Schneebeli Earth Science Center), 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the Susquehanna Room, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Wildcat Express (convenience store), 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Meal Plan information will be available from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Susquehanna Room, located in the Hager Lifelong Education Center.
Le Jeune Chef, the College's fine-dining restaurant on the main campus, will be open for breakfast from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and for brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required; call (570) 327-4776 to reserve seats.
Free shuttle buses will be available to navigate the main campus. The buses will depart from parking lots at major facilities from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Free bus transportation also will be available to and from the Schneebeli Earth Science Center and the Lumley Aviation Center at the Williamsport Regional Airport. Buses will leave the main campus on the hour from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from the parking lot north of the Carl Building Technologies Center. See signs inside the buses for destination information. Return buses will depart from the Earth Science Center and Aviation Center on the half hour from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tours and informational displays will be available at both sites.
