An important chapter in the history of the Printing and Publishing programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology will come to a close this month when Dale A. Metzker the last faculty member to work at both of Penn College's predecessor institutions retires.

To continue Metzker's legacy of helping students, "The Dale A. Metzker Graphic Communications Scholarship" has been established at Penn College. The scholarship targets students in the Printing and Publishing (soon to be renamed "Graphic Communications") associate- and bachelor-degree majors.

In 1963, fresh from Williamsport Technical Institute's Offset and Letterpress Printer program (in which he received high praise from his instructors), Metzker was hired as a production printer at W.T.I.

Metzker joined the College's faculty in 1966 after W.T.I. had become Williamsport Area Community College. He retires this month from Penn College as an associate professor of printing and publishing.

The College's director of financial aid will choose the scholarship recipient from eligible applicants. Following the initial award, preference will be given to continuing students in subsequent years. The scholarship will be available to defray the cost of tuition, fees, books, and required supplies.

Alumni of the Penn College, W.A.C.C. and W.T.I. Printing and Publishing/Graphic Communications programs, as well as anyone else, can send contributions for the Dale A.Metzker Graphic Communications Scholarship to: Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation, Inc., One College Avenue, Williamsport, PA 17701-5799.

Please make checks payable to "Penn College Foundation" and include a note that the contribution should be directed to the Dale A. Metzker Graphic Communications Scholarship.
