"Penn College is a great school if you know what you want to do and you want to jump right in. There is no time wasted in classes that are irrelevant or restrictive to your field of study."
Guided by the skills he gained in the bachelor's program, Zachary plans to dive even deeper into the field of polymers by pursuing a master's degree in the field. His dream job? Leading research that results in next-level sustainable products and solutions.
I chose Penn College because of the school’s emphasis on practical application and real-world skills.
I chose to go into plastics because I was interested in the chemistry behind it, and because it is a very underappreciated field that plays a crucial role in how we live our modern lives.
I’m excited most about how young the area of polymer science is and how much there still is to learn and explore.
I plan to continue my education and pursue a graduate degree in polymer science emphasizing sustainability research.
I would tell them that Penn College is a great school if you know what you want to do and you want to jump right in. There is no time wasted in classes that are irrelevant or restrictive to your field of study.
The coolest thing I have learned is a course I took in polymer synthesis, which is an in-depth chemistry course that introduces concepts found in master’s degrees in Polymer Science.

Thanks to cross-registration with Williamsport's Lycoming College, Zachary has enjoyed the opportunity to take music courses during his time at Penn College. His continued hard work and dedication with the arts paid off when he was asked to represent both colleges in the 75th Pennsylvania Intercollegiate Band Festival. For the second straight year, Zachary was awarded the first-chair spot for double bass.
