While his middle-school classmates talked about becoming doctors and teachers, Garrett envisioned himself working for the design team at LEGO. After researching possible pathways, he landed on plastics and polymers. Now at Penn College pursuing his bachelor’s degree, Garrett is laser focused on landing his dream job with the massively popular building block giant.

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE PENN COLLEGE?
I chose Penn College due to the highly rated plastics program they offered. I also chose this school due to the location. The fact that this school was surrounded by mountains and the outdoors, was a significant factor for me since I am an avid outdoorsman.
WHEN DID YOU KNOW PLASTICS AND POLYMERS WAS A FIELD YOU WANTED TO PURSUE?
Ever since I was young, I always knew that I wanted to work for LEGO. I started looking into what kind of majors LEGO hires from and plastics was one of the leading bachelor's degrees.
WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT YOUR FIELD?
The most exciting thing about my field is the fact that I can go anywhere. This is an incredibly diverse major that can open opportunities to jobs all over the world for all kinds of companies.
IF SOMEONE WERE CONSIDERING PENN COLLEGE, WHAT WOULD YOU TELL THEM?
If someone was considering attending Penn College, I think it would be a great choice. The hands-on aspect of this school is far beyond any I have seen. The professors are fantastic. The employees of the school are super helpful with anything you need. Plus, it is in a beautiful location.
WHAT IS THE COOLEST THING YOU'VE LEARNED SO FAR?
The coolest thing I have learned so far is probably learning about the different machines, what they are used for, and how to use them. It is super interesting to see how items we use every day are manufactured.
HOW DO POLYMERS AND PLASTICS BENEFIT THE WORLD?
Plastics are just about in every single item that you use every day. Plastics will always be needed and used across the world. There are many plastics that save lives, as well as make life easier for everyone.
