New scholarships
In 2018-19, 15 new scholarships were established through Penn College and the Penn College Foundation.
Ryan Monteleone Scholarship was established by Monteleone, ’18, to benefit full-time students in the information assurance and cyber security bachelor’s degree.
Turnkey Electric Inc. Scholarship was established by Michael Bower, ’76, Penn College Foundation Board member, to benefit full-time electrical construction or electrical technology students from Lycoming County.
Earth, Turf & Wood Inc. Scholarship was established by the company to benefit full-time students from Lancaster, Lebanon, Berks and York counties enrolling in landscape/horticulture technology: landscape emphasis; building science and sustainable design: architecture and sustainable design concentration; residential construction technology and management: architecture concentration; or architecture.
Brook J. Lenfest Scholarship was established by the Brook J. Lenfest Foundation to benefit students from a Mastery Charter High School (Philadelphia) or participants of the Philadelphia Futures program who enroll full time in an associate degree.
IMG Midstream, IMG Energy Services Scholarship was established by IMG Energy Services LLC with a primary preference for students from Bradford, Columbia, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Sullivan, Susquehanna and Wyoming counties enrolled in the on-site power generation major. Secondary preference for any Pennsylvania resident in on-site power generation.
Pin Oak Service Center, a sister company of B.R. Kreider & Son Inc., Automotive Technology Scholarship was established by the service center to benefit students who are enrolled in automotive technology, have completed an internship with B.R. Kreider & Son Inc. and are recommended by the department head. If no candidates are found, secondary preference will be given to students in automotive technology who have a permanent residence in Pennsylvania, Delaware or Maryland.
Pin Oak Service Center, a sister company of B.R. Kreider & Son Inc., Diesel Technology Scholarship was established by the service center to benefit students who are enrolled in the diesel technology major, have completed an internship with B.R. Kreider & Son Inc. and are recommended by the department head. If no candidates are found, secondary preference will be given to students who are enrolling in the diesel technology major with a permanent residence in Pennsylvania, Delaware or Maryland.
Linda and Jim Boose Scholarship was established by the couple to benefit students who have completed 30 credits with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and are enrolled full time in a STEM-related associate or bachelor’s degree major.
Eugene C. Breiner Memorial Aviation Maintenance Scholarship was established by Joyce Breiner to benefit full-time students in the aviation maintenance technology bachelor’s degree or the aviation technology associate degree who have successfully completed two semesters with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students should also be of good ethical character and demonstrate leadership qualities through involvement with professional groups or through campus community service. Primary preference will be given to first-generation college students with demonstrated financial need who meet the above criteria.
Devin Mattern Memorial Endowed Scholarship was established by Debra and Randy Mattern to benefit full-time students in their second year of study in electronics and computer engineering technology: robotics and automation emphasis who graduated from Indian Valley High School and have demonstrated financial need. If a student meeting that criterion cannot be found, a student graduating from Indian Valley High School will be considered with a preference for a student enrolling in a major in the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies.
Kyle Mason, ’14, Memorial Scholarship was established by Greg Mason to benefit students in the electronics & computer engineering technology bachelor’s degree who have successfully completed two semesters with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
Tim Martin and Mary Margaret George Scholarship was established by William Martin to benefit full-time students pursuing the human services and restorative justice bachelor’s or associate degree.
Jay and Karen Miller Scholarship was established by the couple to benefit full-time students in the building construction technology major who have demonstrated financial need.
Studebaker Drivers Club Keystone Region Scholarship was established by the Keystone Region Chapter Inc. to benefit full-time students who have completed two semesters with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the automotive restoration technology major. Preference will be given to students who have a history of owning Studebaker vehicles in their family.
Careers Through Culinary Arts Scholarship was established in partnership with the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program to benefit students in the hospitality management, baking and pastry arts, or culinary arts technology majors who participated in the C-CAP culinary competition and were selected by the organization.
