Q&A with Weather Engineers, Inc.

WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE INDUSTRY YOU SERVE?

We are excited about the continuous growth of our company and our employees. We believe that fostering both creates a strong foundation for long-term success. Additionally, the HVAC industry is evolving rapidly with new technologies. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of these advancements. The constant innovation allows us to provide better, more efficient solutions for our customers while challenging our team to stay ahead of the curve. This dynamic environment is what keeps us motivated and engaged every day.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COMPANY'S CULTURE/MISSION?

What I appreciate most about Weather Engineers is that, even as we’ve grown, we’ve never lost our family business mentality. No matter how large we become, we always prioritize treating every customer as if they’re part of our own family. This commitment to personalized care is central to who we are. I also love that Weather Engineers is not just a place to work—it’s a place to build a meaningful career. The supportive environment makes it a great place to grow both personally and professionally.

HOW DID YOUR COMPANY FIRST CONNECT WITH PENN COLLEGE?

I am a proud graduate of Pennsylvania College of Technology and a former resident of Pennsylvania. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 2001, it has always been a dream of mine to give back to the institution that helped launch my career in the HVAC industry. Reconnecting with Penn College allows me to support the next generation of professionals in a field I’m passionate about.

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE PENN COLLEGE IS A SOUND INVESTMENT? WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR RETURN?

Penn College provided me with a solid foundation that gave me the confidence to enter the trade and continuously grow within the HVAC industry. The education I received not only taught me the technical skills I needed but also introduced me to different aspects of the business. Nearly 30 years later, I’m still in the industry and loving every minute of it. The return on this investment has been a successful, fulfilling career that I am proud of.

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU VALUE MOST WHEN RECRUITING PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS AND ALUMNI?

When recruiting, whether from Penn College or elsewhere, I value honesty above all. I’m looking for individuals who will tell the truth and communicate openly, as this builds the foundation for mutual growth. Their success is my success, and I want them to come to work excited, knowing they have the opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. It’s important to me that they feel fulfilled not just at work, but in their lives outside of it as well.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU SHARE WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (AND PARENTS) WHO ARE CONSIDERING PENN COLLEGE?

When I attended Penn College in the early 90s, the campus looked much different—there were no sports teams, and it wasn’t as developed as it is now. Today, Penn College offers an incredible environment to start your career, learn a trade, and set yourself up for success in life. The education I received there gave me the tools and confidence to build a lasting career, and I’m grateful for the foundation it provided. For any high school student considering Penn College, it’s a great place to grow both personally and professionally.
