WHAT EXCITES YOU ABOUT THE INDUSTRY YOU SERVE?
Early in my career journey, I made the decision to work in healthcare. At the time, I made the choice because of the direct impact I could have every day on improving the health of people in the community where I lived. Fast forward to today, I realize that having strong healthcare organizations in communities impacts not just health, but workforce development, economic development and has tremendous social impact. Each day, I can drive positive change and build a healthier community for the future.
WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COMPANY'S CULTURE/MISSION?
Our mission at UPMC in North Central Pa. is to extend God’s healing love by providing an extraordinary patient experience. That translates for me to compassion and treating every person with dignity and respect. Whether it is as simple as greeting every person in the hallway with a smile or listening to a patient’s concern and taking the time to comfort them, our culture is based on treating everyone with the highest level of concern and compassion. I am proud to be part of an organization that lives by its values.

The most tangible return to our investment in Penn College is in workforce development. We have many programs that help train and educate the next generation of healthcare professionals. Many of our talented staff at UPMC are proud alumni of Penn College and choose to stay and work in our hospitals and physician offices in this community.
