At The GIANT Company, the work they do starts with groceries, but it doesn't end there. Since 1923, they've been innovators. From the first brightly lit parking lots to bold urban format stores in Philly, they've been thinking big and breaking new ground in the industry—all while building a foundation that helps connect families, create healthier communities, and bring good things to the neighborhood.

The grocery industry is forever evolving. The work we do goes further than groceries. Each day we seek to provide community members with affordable, nutritious meal solution options to help them keep their families healthy—all the while saving time and money.

WHAT DO YOU APPRECIATE MOST ABOUT YOUR COMPANY'S CULTURE/MISSION?

At The GIANT Company, the mission is "connecting families for a better future." We are a purpose-driven team. Everything we do is for today's table, and that includes yours.

HOW DID YOUR COMPANY FIRST CONNECT WITH PENN COLLEGE?

The GIANT Company first connected with Penn College when GIANT's HR team reached out.

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE PENN COLLEGE IS A SOUND INVESTMENT? WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR RETURN?

Through a partnership with Penn College, The GIANT Company has the unique opportunity to invest in the lives of students throughout our various operating markets. GIANT is a multifaceted organization with roles in all areas such as store operations (bakery, meat, seafood, deli, and management) and the support office (marketing, human resources, ecommerce growth, etc.). We seek to provide opportunities to students whether through part-time employment, internships or opportunities post grad for them to continue to grow their skills, all the while, giving back to their communities. Penn College produces highly qualified, community oriented, and growth focused individuals and The GIANT Company wants to continue to help them grow.

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU VALUE MOST WHEN RECRUITING PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS & ALUMNI?

When having conversations with any students, we first and foremost look to see if they would be a great cultural fit. At GIANT, our values are care, humor, courage, teamwork, and integrity. Hearing each student's unique story showcases how they relate to our values. From there, we look into technical and hard skills. The GIANT Company has a variety of roles. If someone expresses a growth mindset and willingness to learn, they would be a great fit!

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU SHARE WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ARE CONSIDERING PENN COLLEGE?

Be a sponge! The next couple years of your life will bring about so much change and growth. You will learn from those who have many years of experience. Soak it in. Ask questions. Keep a growth mindset and continue to seek knowledge in all areas.
