"My goal in creating this partnership is to ensure that tomorrows leaders in our industry are inspired and fulfilled by their experience with us. My approach to leadership has been to believe in the potential and talent within a student and model myself in a such manner that they see the value and honor in choosing a career in my beloved hospitality industry."

Q&A with Eagles Mere Country Club
HOW DID YOUR COMPANY FIRST CONNECT WITH PENN COLLEGE?
Our head chef Mel Faus is a graduate of Penn College. He and our clubhouse manager recently visited campus.
HOW HAS ENROLLING AS A CORPORATE TOMORROW MAKER ENHANCED YOUR PARTNERSHIP WITH PENN COLLEGE?
To be associated with Penn College adds value to our organization in the eyes of the students, as well as the community where we live. Eagles Mere is a short distance from the college, so being a supporting partner is important to us.
WHAT QUALITIES OF PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS MAKE THEM STAND OUT FOR YOUR OPERATIONS?
That the student has made the commitment to apply the academic part of their education with the hands-on real life experience that helps to bring the skills and knowledge to life.
WHAT ASPECTS OF YOUR COMPANY ATTRACT OUR STUDENTS AND FUTURE STUDENTS TO JOIN YOUR OPERATION?
Our unique and professional setting are two aspects. Our chef has nearly 30 years of experience to share while providing a wide range of cooking techniques. From our bar, dining room, and menu service to our July 4th picnic that serves 800 people, and the many golf outings and themed events that keep our staff and members engaged, there are lots of opportunities. In addition to being general manager, I am also a certified sommelier and have built an exciting wine list and wine dinner program to compliment the chef's skills. For non-culinary students, we offer decades of experience from our leadership team. The students can assist in implementing events as a concierge, event coordinator, or as accounting support.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU SHARE WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS (AND PARENTS) WHO ARE CONSIDERING PENN COLLEGE?
To choose Penn College is to choose to hit the ground running upon graduating. You have already put the time and effort in that employers highly value. This commitment of knowledge-based and hands-on is what makes a degree from Penn College more valued in our industry.
WHAT PROFESSIONAL ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS TO BEST PREPARE THEM TO JOIN YOUR TEAM?
