Abstract Wood Sculpture

"Architecture positively impacts the world. Through green buildings you can create both a statement and work of art that are functional and aesthetically pleasing to the surrounding area. Architecture is a part of how the world operates and creates a community environment for everyone and everything in the area."

My vision for this project was to create a sustainable attraction and education center that can complement the site which lead me to choose an aquarium since the Dublin Zoo is adjacent to the site. Some of my strategies were limited head island effect by having minimal parking since Ireland has a large public transit and encourages people to walk or use other means to travel than car. My next strategy was to see how Ireland designs green buildings since its climate does not have a lot of sun but does get rain. My solution was to make the building an integrated green building with vegetation that can grow on the exterior of the building that has dual purpose. The first is for shading and heat, and the second is for rainwater control this is the common practice for Ireland.
In this view you can see the louvers that will be an exoskeleton to hold the vegetation
This view captures the site and building location in 3D
This view is the first floor plan that half of the building is the aquarium and the other is a lobby and bakery area for the hotel.
This image is of the second floor of the aquarium to hold a café area and learning area for kids
This image is of the third floor of the hotel and has the indoor pool area along with a restaurant and gym.
