Principles of Biology I

Focus of study on the fundamental processes of life. Emphasis will be placed on the behavior and interactions of molecules and cells as the foundation of modern medicine. Topics include the scientific method, the chemicals of life, cell structure and function, the molecular basis of inheritance, metabolism, biotechnology, membrane properties, the cell cycle, cellular communication, and the development of cellular and molecular laboratory techniques. First in a two-course sequence.
