Introduction to Music

Study designed to develop listening skills that add to the enjoyment of music--particularly the art music of western civilization, often referred to as "classical" music. Discussion questions the myths that have prevented many people from discovering the enjoyment of such music. Also covered are the basic terms related to describing music; techniques for listening to music critically; important trends in the history of music; and the clear expression of ideas when conversing and writing about music.
