Honda Automotive Fundamentals & Dealership Operations

Introduction to Honda dealership operations and fundamental automotive job functions. Skills developed include pre-delivery service, basic maintenance, lubrication, minor repairs, as well as the basics of Honda-specific vehicle systems. Designed to prepare students with the requisite knowledge to perform various tasks within a Honda dealership including, but not limited to, working in the Express Service Lane. Summer Only.

Honda Dealership Internship I

HAD160

Specialized work experience as an automotive technician to be performed at a sponsoring Honda or Acura dealership. Application of the knowledge and skills developed in previous Honda PACT classes. This course is conducted in accordance with the guidelines established by the Honda PACT program. This internship experience requires a minimum of 150 work experience hours, but may include more hours depending on the individual needs of the internship experience. Summer Only.

Honda Electrical Systems

HAD211

Principles of operation, diagnosis, and repair of Honda automotive electrical accessories, including those controlled using conventional electrical components and those controlled by computers. Specific systems include lighting circuits, windshield wiper/washer circuits, horn, power seats, power mirrors, power windows and door locks, supplemental restraint systems, keyless entry, instrumentation, and speed control. Emphasis on accessing pertinent service information, interpreting wiring diagrams to analyze circuits, troubleshooting circuits, and using scan tools in the diagnosis of computer-controlled electrical accessories. Fall Only.

Honda Steering, Suspension & Advanced Safety Systems

HAD221

Principles of Honda steering, suspension, and advanced safety systems, including construction, operation, components, relationships, steering geometry, alignment, rear and front suspension service, repair and tire pressure monitoring systems, crash mitigation braking systems, lane keep assist, and lane departure systems. Spring Only.

Honda Gasoline, CNG & Hybrid Fuel & Emission Systems

HAD230

Honda engine performance analysis and basic tune-up procedures. Operation and troubleshooting of the Honda PGM FI engine management system, including emission controls, ignition, and engine controls. Topics include the purpose and performance of computerized engine control systems, theory of operation, service, troubleshooting, and repair. Review fundamentals of compressed natural gas and hybrid technologies. Spring Only.

Honda Heating & Air Conditioning

HAD240

Theory and operation of Honda air conditioning systems. Topics include proper diagnosis and servicing techniques, including recycling and handling of refrigerants and retrofitting of vehicles from R-12 to R-134A refrigerant. Emphasis on the effects of chloroflurocarbons (CFCs) on Earth's atmosphere and the use of substitute refrigerants. Spring Only.

Introduction to the theory and operation of the Honda Powertrain. Focus on engine, transmission, and driveline disassembly, inspection, repair, replacement, measurement, and reassembly. Fall Only.
