The Community Arts Center congratulates graphic design student Austin L. Fulton on his winning 25th Anniversary logo following a Fall 2017 corporate-pitch competition under the guidance of graphic design instructor Nicholas L. Stephenson.
The project included nine other graphic design students that were assigned the task of creating a logo to commemorate the upcoming anniversary season for the CAC.
Fulton, of Montoursville, was joined in the competition by Dannelle G. Alexander, of Spring Mills; Joseph N. Colyer, of Selinsgrove; Felicia R. Hartzler, of Dover; Minhthu H. Nguyen, of Montoursville; Joel S. Riddles, of Renovo; Morgan L. Royer, of Centre Hall; Kyra N. Shea, of Huntingdon; Jonathan D. Straub, of Williamsport; and Daniel T. Wrench, of Jersey Shore.
Each designed a branding campaign to promote the new logo and made a formal presentation to the 25th Anniversary Committee, which included numerous members of the CAC Board of Directors.
“When we decided there was a need for a distinctive logo for next year’s celebration, we turned to the talent represented right here in our own community. We wanted to incorporate this special project as part of our partnership (with the college) and ask students to share their thoughts, ideas and designs,” CAC Executive Director Sharon Mack explained. “It was a chance for the students to present their designs in a formal setting and give them the experience of a corporate branding selection process."
Although the competition was very close, Fulton’s design came out the winner by displaying what he described as “an iconic look, while also evoking feelings of elegance and quality.”
“My contemporary design uses monoline technique, where the line work sets the stage and provides a memorable identifier for the CAC,” Fulton added.
He also added that the project was totally embraced by the entire class and the requirement to formally present their designs as in a corporate setting was a real benefit to the students. “We have really appreciated the opportunity. It was great for all of us,” he added.
The new design will be featured throughout the 25th Anniversary season beginning July 1, 2018, through June 30, 2019. The CAC is selecting performances for the 2018-19 season calendar with the expectation of making every event throughout the year a celebration for the community.
