A Pennsylvania College of Technology student has received the highest award in Girl Scouting – the Girl Scout Gold Award – for the 2024 Gold Award class, according to Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. The award was earned by Sarah Marie Kline, a graduate of Montoursville Area High School, who is majoring in baking & pastry arts and applied management at Penn College.
Students enjoyed some fabulous treats while learning about valuable resources at Penn College during Tuesday's "Dessert Crawl," sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and its Wildcat Advisory Committee. Participants began the event at the Bush Campus Center Information Desk and visited a number of stations during their sweet sampling, earning entries to a prize raffle for filling out their passports along the way.

In what has become a tradition, Pennsylvania College of Technology students lead the list of scholarship recipients from a national foundation devoted to skilled manufacturing careers. Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, the charitable foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, awarded the scholarships – each worth up to $2,500 – to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in a certificate or degree program leading to a manufacturing career.
When Blaine L. Walizer crossed the stage at Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Dec. 16 commencement ceremony, it marked the second degree he earned in a matter of weeks. From Penn College, the Beech Creek resident completed an associate degree in business management. A Hanover-based general contractor has donated a new concrete mixer to Pennsylvania College of Technology, equipment that enhances the educational experience for students attending classes in the Construction Masonry Building at the northwestern edge of main campus. Jordyn G. Nichols, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, was featured in a Jan. 6 Williamsport Sun-Gazette story for the care she provided to a patient’s pup. When Chad Losell learned the arrangements he’d made for his dachshund to be cared for while he had heart surgery had fallen through, he considered postponing the life-saving procedure. “It obviously was causing tremendous stress on him, and I just wanted to take care of that completely,” Nichols told the Sun-Gazette’s Pat Crossley.
