WNEP-TV’s Mackenzie Aucker visited Le Jeune Chef Restaurant to do an “appetizing” story about Penn College students cooking next week at the 150th Kentucky Derby. More than 25 students will continue the college’s tradition of preparing food for Churchill Downs’ premium venues throughout Derby Week.
Blending history and modernity, a class of Pennsylvania College of Technology students has pitched in to assist a local historical museum in launching its new digital app that gives visitors an innovative way to engage with exhibits and essentially opens the museum doors for online exploration by anyone across the globe.
Pennsylvania College of Technology’s nursing graduates again bested state and national pass rates on the National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses. Among Penn College associate degree graduates who took the exam between Oct. 1, 2022, and Sept 30, 2023, 95.52% passed on their first attempt. Similarly, 95.12% of Penn College bachelor’s degree grads taking the exam during the same period passed on their first try.
Lycoming Engines recently employed the talents of Penn College students for a project that will have lasting benefits for the renowned company. As part of a class project, welding students fabricated an access platform designed by Tyler J. Gustafson, majoring in engineering design technology. The aluminum structure will span between two new Okuma LU-45 twin-turret lathes, intended to help expand Lycoming’s internal cylinder barrel manufacturing capacity.
Two automotive influencers, four alumni and numerous car dealerships and vehicles rolled onto campus recently, greeted by gorgeous spring weather and excited automotive students and faculty. “Auto Fest” was held in and around Penn College’s Thompson Professional Development Center.
Penn College nursing students presented their capstone projects on Tuesday, researching a variety of health conditions they saw while completing clinical education experiences in area hospitals, and exploring ways to improve a process they witnessed. As the nursing industry – like others – seeks continuous improvement, the research, leadership and presentation skills practiced will be vital in the students’ work.
Ciocca Collision Center in Montoursville recently donated a Honda door outer panel to Penn College’s collision repair lab, and it has been put to good use. The door outer panel is a task collision repair students are required to complete in their second year in our program.
Graduates of Williamsport Technical Institute – a predecessor of Penn College that provided hands-on education to thousands of students from 1941-65 – reunited recently in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. Around 20 alumni – plus their guests – gathered to catch up, share memories, and hear about the latest in a few of the college’s current academic programs.

An independent public charity that helps young car enthusiasts gain access to education and training to begin careers as classic car technicians, the foundation awarded Wiernusz a Piston Scholarship.
