Pennsylvania College of Technology culinary students will be seeing more food than horses when they hit the ground running at the Kentucky Derby. One day's menu alone calls for approximately 1,600 pounds of prime rib, 2,000 pounds of seafood salad, 600 pounds of potatoes, and a ton of asparagus.

Ten Pennsylvania College of Technology students recently captured first place in their respective fields at the Pennsylvania Association Vocational Industrial Clubs of America District 6 Competition. The competition was held at SUN Area Vocational-Technical School, in New Berlin. The winners advance to the state VICA Skills Championships.
Kathryn Wentzel Lumley, of Jersey Shore RR 2, has been honored for her notable achievements and commitment to educating young children. Lumley received a special Distinguished Educator Award from the Central Susquehanna Association for the Education of Young Children at its fourth annual conference, held recently at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

"A Retrospect in Ink" is the title of the next exhibit at Pennsylvania College of Technology's 202 Gallery, located in the Bush Campus Center. The display is a master of fine arts requirement exhibit by Cindy L.W. Westbrook, communication arts lab assistant at the College and acting gallery director. Building a great reputation for their college, Pennsylvania College of Technology construction students traveled to Dallas recently to compete at the 1999 International Builders' Show.
Believing that students learn best from hands-on experiences, Chrysler Corp. and VanCampen Dodge-Chrysler Plymouth in Williamsport have made a commitment to education by donating a 1996 Chrysler Sebring Convertible JX to Pennsylvania College of Technology. The vehicle will be used to supplement instruction in the College's automotive technology majors.
Pennsylvania College of Technology has again benefited from the Caterpillar Excellence Fund, a partnership between the Caterpillar Foundation, participating dealers and schools. For the 1998-99 academic year, a total of $118,000 has been awarded to the Williamsport educational institution.
"The Year 2000 Challenge" will be the topic of discussion at a Pennsylvania College of Technology Professional Development colloquium Thursday, March 25, at 7 p.m., in the College's Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Larry Makin of Concurrent Technology Corp., Johnstown, will give a one-hour awareness briefing and overview of the "Year 2000" problem.
