"Cure for the Common Callback," a popular seminar addressing building-science and quality-control issues, will be the first in a series of "Builders' Workshop" programs offered around the state October through March by the Pennsylvania Housing Resource Center at Pennsylvania College of Technology in partnership with the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center at The Pennsylvania State University.

An ultramodern aircraft constructed of composite material has been donated to Pennsylvania College of Technology by Dr. Francis M. Powers Jr. and William T. Castle. The single-engine, retractable-gear Velocity airplane, which was built in 1994, has a value of $137,000. It will be used for instructional purposes by students in the aviation majors at Penn College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has honored Dr. Kirk M. Cantor, associate professor of plastics and polymer technology, with an Excellence in Teaching Award. The award is presented to a full-time faculty member who has been nominated by students and colleagues for excellence in instructional performance. Patrons of Pennsylvania College of Technology's main dining hall, the Susquehanna Room, will find faster service and more menu flexibility this fall, following a $1.16 million renovation project at the facility this summer. The 13-week project represents the first major overhaul of the Susquehanna Room since it opened 16 years ago.
The daunting task of choosing a career path becomes a bit less intimidating for the Lycoming County teens who participate in the "Summer Youth Career Awareness" program sponsored annually by STEP and Pennsylvania College of Technology. Each of the past six years, some 25 to 30 eligible 14- to 16-year-olds have gained hands-on experience and exposure to more than a dozen vocational fields.
The CoffeeHouse at Pennsylvania College of Technology will play host to a diverse group of musical performers and styles this fall, with the duo Zoot scheduled to kick off the popular series on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 8 p.m. The performances, which are offered by the College's Student Activities Office, are free and open to the public. Pennsylvania College of Technology has announced the winners of the 2000 Legal Assistant Student Writing Competition, the first ever of its kind among paralegal/legal assistant students nationwide. The winner of the $500 First Place award is Marilee M. Patton of North Carolina. The winner of the $300 Second Place award is Y.E. Fray of California.
