The students started chipping away during the rest of the first half – hitting some 3-pointers, but still trailing 35-18 at the midpoint. Picking up where they left off, students hit a few more treys in the second half and continued to whittle the staff/faculty lead. Ryan Callahan, determined not to let the student team back in the game, led all scorers with 39 points. The employee team went cold and the students went on a 9-0 run, though, cutting the deficit to 6 points with five minutes left in the game. The students couldn’t capitalize and their opponents again extended the lead to double digits, ultimately winning by a 60-45 tally. Matt Blymier was named MVP, scoring for the first time in three games against student challengers, finishing with 5 points. The students were led by Logan Connolly with 18 points. The rest of that team and their totals: Andreal Wilson, 3 points; Kewaun Hunte, 8; Chris Carvel, 5; Corey Carr, 6; Jackie Chen, 5 points. Andrew Pick didn’t score, but had several rebounds and assists. The staff/faculty team and its players' stats: Tyler Mensch, 7 points; John McNichol, Chris Howard, Lauren Healy and Jackie Klahold, 2 points each; and Sean Stout, 1. John Vandevere did not score, but contributed three steals.
