The scheduled baseball opener for Pennsylvania College of Technology at Mary Washington was canceled Friday after a late-week snowstorm hit Fredericksburg, Virginia, but everything is still on track for the college’s baseball and softball teams as they compete this week in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where temperatures will be warmer but there is a chance of showers.

Although his team didn’t reach the playoffs in its first year in the North Eastern Athletic Conference , coach Matt Wilt has to feel good about the fact that it was one of only five teams to beat eventual conference champion Penn State Abington. Wrestling
Freshman Slade Storm, of New Oxford, was the only Penn College wrestler to finish the season with a winning individual record as he went 14-7. The 149-pounder also led the team in pins with six.
