Executive Director Earns Doctorate From Drexel University

The executive director for assessment, research and planning at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently received a doctorate in educational leadership and management from Drexel University.
Brian L. Cygan, of Lock Haven, and originally of Butler, defended his dissertation, “Technical College Choice: An Action Research, Mixed Methods Study of Influences on the Enrollment Decisions of Students Admitted to a Technical College,” on Aug. 28 in Harrisburg.
The three-person dissertation committee included William J. Martin, Penn College’s senior vice president.
Cygan joined the college staff in January 2010 as director of institutional research after five years in a similar position at Lock Haven University. He was previously employed as assistant director of institutional research at Slippery Rock University, and as a purchasing agent and pricing clerk for Spang & Co., Butler.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics from Grove City College and a Master of Education – with an emphasis in higher education management – from the University of Pittsburgh.
