Leah D. Tamburlin, a senior nursing major from St. Marys, has been chosen as the Student of the Month at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
Tamburlin, who is scheduled to graduate in May, is a member of the Student Nurses' Association and is employed as a part-time clerk in the Residence Life Office.
She was chosen for the Penn State Hershey 2013 Student Nurse Externship Program this past summer, working full time in the Hershey Medical Center emergency room.
"Leah's work ethic, integrity and strength of character epitomize the institution's ideal of a model student," her nominators wrote. "She is a shining representative of Penn College." Since enrolling at Penn College in January 2011, Tamburlin has been named to the Dean's List and has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA for six consecutive semesters.
"She is an integral part of our central office staff, working closely with our students, prospective students and their families," her Residence Life colleagues noted. "Leah's customer-service skills are exceptional. Even in the most challenging situations, she maintains poise and composure. She is always respectful and extremely helpful to her co-workers and the students we serve."
Student Government Association recognition is bestowed numerous times each academic year based on commitment, service, role-model behavior, academics, leadership and campus involvement. Nominations from faculty/staff and other students are strongly encouraged.
