Workshops Offer Road Maps to Students' Academic Success
Tuesday, September 11, 2012
More than 40 students attended the second annual C.L.A.S.S. (Conference Learning About Academic SuccesS) on Saturday, choosing from 12 different workshops on a variety of topics from handling stress and communicating with professors to easy study methods and tips on writing college papers. Eugene M. McAvoy, dean of academic services and first year programs, opened with a discussion on "Mindset," and Carolyn R. Strickland, assistant vice president for academic services, discussed "Academic Buoyancy" as the luncheon keynote speaker. The event closed with a panel of students who answered questions posed by the audience, and participants left with new ideas on how to be successful students at Penn College. “This was very helpful and fun!" one student said at day's end. "I learned a lot of new strategies!”
