Horticulture Club Delivers Another Check in Support of 'Relay'
Wednesday, November 10, 2010
For the fifth straight year, a commemorative Horticulture Club floral sale has resulted in a charitable contribution to Penn College's "Relay for Life" battle against cancer. On Wednesday afternoon, clubtreasurer Jeremy S. Frost, a Williamsport resident majoring in ornamental horticulture: plant production emphasis, delivered a $475.50 check to main campus. The money representsa share of each Breast Cancer Awareness flower arrangement sold last month. With the latest donation, the club based at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood and mentored by horticulture instructor Carl J. Bower and Dennis Fink, assistant professor of horticulture has raised more than $1,800 for the cause. The check was accepted by Peggy A. Barbour, advisement center specialist, who, along with Nancy C. Bowers, associate professor of mathematics, co-chairs the "Relay" effort.
